I’M ALREADY HERE. I’M ALREADY SERVING. I’M ALREADY WORKING FOR YOU.

Montreal L Peterson- current Manager of Operations for the Fort Bend County Clerk’s Office

I‘m not waiting to lead, I’m already serving. I’ am a direct report to the county clerk alongside the chief deputies, supporting the operations that matter most to our community. In that role, I’ve helped uphold the integrity of public records, support the court system, and serve our citizens with professionalism and dedication.

The County Clerk’s Office is a gateway to essential public services, including:

  • Serving as clerk custodian of records for the Commissioner’s Court and county courts

  • Recording vital public records: deeds, birth and death certificates, assumed names (DBAs), and more

  • Issuing marriage licenses

  • Providing administrative support for court filings and records

These functions matter every day: protecting legal documentation, preserving history, and ensuring government works efficiently and transparently.

My commitment to voter education, civic engagement, and informed participation remains strong because an informed community is an empowered one.

This campaign isn’t about title, it’s about EXPERIENCE, SERVICE, and HELPING all residents navigate vital government services with confidence and care.

I’M ALREADY HERE. I’M ALREADY WORKING AND I AM HERE TO SERVE YOU. #READYDAYONE

Building on a Legacy for Tomorrow

I am proud to serve within the County Clerk’s Office and to support the strong foundation already in place. My commitment is simple:

Not to undo what works.
Not to disrupt excellence.
But to strengthen, prepare, and responsibly grow the office as Fort Bend County continues to expand.

As our population grows, so does our responsibility. Growth doesn’t change the law, it changes the workload, complexity, and expectations placed on this office.

Here is how I will continue building on the legacy already established:

Strengthening Core Departments

Courts

  • Enhance digital accessibility and filing efficiency

  • Prepare for increased caseloads as population grows

  • Reinforce cross-training to maintain seamless support

My Commitment

I am not running to change the direction of this office.

I am running to continue the excellence already in place while preparing our team, our systems, and our community for tomorrow.

That is what Building on a Legacy for Tomorrow means.

Commissioners Court is the governing body of Fort Bend County. It is made up of the County Judge and four Commissioners, and it makes decisions about the county’s budget, infrastructure, public services, and policies that impact residents every day.

The County Clerk’s Office serves as the official record keeper of those meetings and decisions.

At the Travis location in Fort Bend County, the Office of Official Public Records (OPR) and Vitals services are available for recording documents, obtaining vital records, and accessing historical record books. Additional services are offered through our county annex locations to increase accessibility and convenience for residents.

Official Public Records (OPR) is the division where important legal documents, such as deeds, liens, plats, and assumed names (DBAs), are recorded and preserved.

This department also safeguards our county’s historical record books, protecting generations of property and legal history for the citizens of Fort Bend County.

Within the Justice Building, the County Clerk’s Courts Division maintains and preserves official court records, processes filings, and safeguards the permanent judicial record for residents of Fort Bend County.
